11. How are criteria weighed?

Assuming that you meet the minimum GPA requirement (2.0) and you have thoroughly followed the application instructions, all applicants are judged based on the quality of their work (as demonstrated in their portfolio), the written statement, a demonstration of financial need, and their recommendations. Please note: as Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships are dedicated to encouraging social and environmental responsibility in the design/arts professions, it is extremely important that you demonstrate some form of community involvement or social agenda in your work. You may use your written statement of purpose to demonstrate your involvement. This agenda plays increasing importance as grade level progresses; in other words, it weighs more heavily for juniors, seniors, and graduate students than for freshmen and sophomores. In fact, graduate students will not be considered unless their statement and work directly address these concerns.
