2. Incoming students
I am an incoming student, and I do not yet have a portfolio in my major (or intended major). Do I need to submit a portfolio to be eligible for the scholarship?
Your question is a common one for incoming students. However, you MUST submit a portfolio. We do require some form of demonstration of artistic and creative skill. The work does not need to be specifically in your intended major — drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc. that you’ve done in high school or in your spare time are fine. Did you have to submit a portfolio to apply to school? Perhaps you did. Photos of this work would also be fine. Just be creative. One architecture student several years ago submitted photos of buildings that he made out of Legos. We, of course, understand that work from beginning students will be rudimentary and we do not hold that against you, but you will not be considered if you do not submit a portfolio. This scholarship is intended for students with artistic potential and we have no other way to determine your potential.
